Excellent example of the work of this midlands Landscape painter. He worked in both oil and watercolour, an example of which is illustrated in Christopher Woods book, the "Dictionary of Victorian Painters". David Bates lived most of his life in the Midlands and exhibited 19 pictures at the Royal Academy.
