J Harold Swanwick RI, ROI, R Cam A (Fl. 1866-1929)
Swanwick is regarded as one of the finest painters of horses after Albert Munnings. He was born in Middlewich, Cheshire and then studied at the Slade in London and Academie Julien, Paris. He exhibited 50 works at the Royal Academy from 1889 to 1929. He moved to Sussex in 1907 living in Wilmington until his death
